Attorneys
While we currently do not have an immediate opening, we are interested in receiving resumes from attorneys with experience litigating on behalf of employees, unions or employee benefit funds. We are also interested in attorneys who have either served as counsel to unions, employee benefit plans or have worked for government agencies that regulate pension and welfare benefit plans. All inquiries are held in the strictest confidence. Please send resume, cover letter and law school transcript if practicing less than 5 years to Cary Kane LLP, 1350 Broadway, Suite 815, NY, NY 10018 or

2009 Summer Associate
Commencing January 1, 2009, Cary Kane LLP will be accepting resumes to fill a 2009 Summer Associate position from second year law students. The position is also available for a third year student who is starting a judicial clerkship in the autumn. Please do not contact us about the position earlier than January 1, 2009. The successful applicant will have a demonstrated interest in one or more of our practice areas, a superior academic record, and excellent writing and interpersonal skills. We will select candidates for interview by January 18, 2009 and make an offer by January 30, 2009.
The summer associate will gain real work experience over 10 weeks assisting attorneys at the firm by researching legal issues, writing legal memos, drafting papers and briefs, and attending hearings and trials. We believe a summer law clerkship should be much more than simply spending the summer cite-checking briefs. It should be a real-world opportunity to learn about and gain practical experience representing workers, employees, labor unions and employee benefit plans.
The summer associate is also expected to write an original paper of publishable quality which discusses a legal topic that has practical relevance to unions or employee benefit plans or attorneys seeking to represent such entities. We anticipate the paper being distributed to our clients and being published in the resources section of this website.
For recruitment purposes we participate in the Peggy Browning Fund Summer Fellowship Program. The salary for the summer law clerk is $900 per week, which is considerably higher than the standard fellowship grant. If interested in the clerkship, please contact the Peggy Browning Fund: www.peggybrowningfund.org
